During the spring of 2020 amidst the Covid 19 pandemic the grounds crew was hard at work preparing for and planting the new Teaching Perennial Garden. This new one-acre garden is planted with over 150 cultivars of sun loving perennial and 50 species of native perennial plants. We were able to get them in, arrange them and get them planted after all was done we planted over 6,000 plants. The garden is designed to display some old favorites as well as new releases. Plants are arranged alphabetically in beds with several species of plants like Achillea, Agastache, Allium, and Amsonia interplanted to give the look of a mixed perennial border. Plants are establishing, and many are looking great for their first year. This was the first phase and more perennials will be added in the upcoming years. Be sure to check it out on your next visit.
