Education and Garden Assistant Interns
The Arboretum is looking for student interns to help in the Kentucky Children's Garden for the 2022 Season. You must be a UK student to apply. Click here for more information/to apply.
Assistant Activities will Include:
- Assisting with and leading environmental education programs for children ages 2-6
- Planting and maintaining gardens
- Displaying a customer service orientation towards the public at all times
- Enforcing the rules and policies of the garden in a polite manner
- Working the entire season: Late March to October, 2022
- Take photos for social media and writing social media post
- Daily cleaning of educational supplies and toys
- May be required to wear a mask
We hope to hire one Entomology student for this position whose responsibilities would differ slightly. They would have activities that included:
- Taking photos of insects for social media and writing social media post
- Preforming general husbandry for butterflies, moths, ants, worms, and more
- Creating informational signage related to insects
- Working: Late March to August 20, 2022
The Successful Applicant will Have:
- Personal or professional experience working with young children, gardening and/or customer service
- College-level courses on early childhood development, horticulture and/or an environmental field
- An interest in the environment, plants, education, sustainability, and/or outdoor activities
Compensation $8.25-10.00 per hour
May receive internship credit
