The Arboretum has scheduled controlled burns on our prairies between 9am and 3pm on Wednesday, March 13. Don’t be alarmed if you see a little smoke coming from The Arboretum.

Important Information

  • We are conducting a survey to find out what excites people about visiting the Arboretum and how we can make the Arboretum accessible and welcoming for all visitors. The survey takes most people 5-10 minutes to complete. You are eligible to participate if you are over 18. Please go to ​​ to complete the survey!

  • A photography permit is necessary for all commercial landscape and portrait photography, including wedding, family, engagement, graduation, prom, senior photos, etc.
  • Organized events at The Arboretum are considered on a case-by-case basis by the Director.

Visit Us!

The Arboretum is a public garden, open daily from dawn to dusk, year round.

While there is no admission charge, donations are critically important to our operations and are gratefully accepted! You can find out more about donation options inside the Oatts Visitor Center or on our Donate page.


 The Kentucky Children's Garden is CLOSED for the season but 2019 Memberships are now available.  See you in 2019!

Oatts Visitor Center hours of operation:

  • Weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
