Though the Kentucky Children’s Garden (KCG) closed for the 2023 season only a few weeks ago, we are already hard at work planning for the 2024 season! We will open for the 2024 season on Wednesday, April 3, weather permitting. We will follow the schedule we “trialed” this year in response to popular parental request of opening and closing one hour earlier during the hottest months of the year. We will continue to be open to the public Wednesday through Saturday with the following hours:

April, May, September, and October: Wednesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Must purchase admission in the Visitor Center by 4 p.m.

June, July, and August: Wednesday-Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Must purchase admission in the Visitor Center by 3:30 p.m.

Please note that the operation of the Kentucky Children’s Garden is dependent on weather conditions as it is an all-outdoor experience.

KCG Season Memberships for 2024 are available for purchase now. Through January 31, 2024, you can purchase a 2024 Season Membership for the 2023 price of $100. Beginning February 1, a 2024 Season Membership will cost $130*. Season membership admits up to five (5) guests to the KCG each time you visit, and Season Members also receive 10% off in our gift shop.

Please remember that if you have an Arboretum Friend benefits card (available by making a minimum annual donation of $50 to The Arboretum) you can receive 10% off your KCG Season Membership. And if you have retained your blue Season Membership card (from any season) you can save a further $5.

If you would like to purchase a membership, you can download the membership form from our website and mail it to us with check or credit card information or you can come into the Visitor Center Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We accept cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard as forms of payment. If your purchase is a gift for someone, please let us know so we can give you a certificate to present to the recipient. In all cases, Season Members may pick up their membership card at the Visitor Center upon their first visit. We do not mail Season Membership cards.

We will once again offer fun and educational programming between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. each day we are open. All are welcome to join the education staff for a 7- to 15-minute lesson covering a wide range of topics and activities, from exploring the garden to reading a book together or working on a craft. A monthly program calendar can be found on our website under Kentucky Children’s Garden. Model train hours will remain the same this year, running for one hour three times a day. The starting times are 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Due to potential harm, we cannot operate the trains during high winds or rain.

*2024 daily admission will remain $4 for everyone ages 2 and above (adults and children).
