Native Plants Internship, Walk Across Kentucky

Interns at a Butterfly Count eventThe Arboretum is hiring a Native Plants Intern in the Walk Across Kentucky Native Plants Collection. This is a seasonal, part-time position, working 8 hours per week during the school semester and 32 hours per week during the summer. This position is for University of Kentucky students only.

Native Plants Intern activities include: 

  • Perform seasonal landscape work including, but not limited to, mowing, weeding, watering, mulching, pruning, planting, and other horticultural tasks
  • Assist with curatorial activities including plant identification, documentation of plant records, and creating and maintaining plant labels
  • Help scout for pests and diseases
  • Assist with treatment of The Arboretum’s ash trees for Emerald Ash Borer
  • Safely operate gardening tools and small equipment
