The Blue Morpho Walk
On a chilly April morning, The Arboretum hosted the second annual Blue Morpho Sunrise Walk. More than 150 participated in this tribute to Alexandra Simpson, organized by her mother Melanie Simpson-Conley.
Participants gathered in front of the Dorotha Smith Oatts Visitor Center at 7 a.m. and walked through the pollinators section of the grounds that now bears Alex’s name. The Alexandra Simpson Butterfly Garden was dedicated in 2023.
The Blue Morpho Sunrise Walk was established by Simpson-Conley, a UK alum, in memory of Alex, who passed away in 2022. Proceeds from the walk benefit the Simpson Family Art in Healing Fund at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
