The Kentucky Children’s Garden will open for the 2025 season on Wednesday, April 2nd, weather permitting. We will once again offer fun and educational programming from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday through Saturday. All are welcome to join our education team for a short 7- to 15-minute lesson covering a wide range of topics and activities, from plants and germination to birds and bugs.   

Thanks to our amazing grounds team, we have been able to update and improve many features in the KCG and look forward to welcoming you to a refreshed garden space!  

This year, a few UK-observed holidays occur during normal operation of the Kentucky Children’s Garden. The Kentucky Children’s Garden will also be closed on these dates: 

• Juneteenth: Thursday, June 19th  

• Independence Day: Friday, July 4th

KCG season memberships for 2025 are available for purchase now. The cost for a membership is $130. Season membership admits up to five (5) guests to the KCG each time you visit, and season members also receive 10% off in our gift shop. 

We are currently recruiting volunteers to work with us in the KCG to provide a welcoming and educational environment. There are many types of volunteer opportunities to suit different interests. In April, May, September and October, the KCG is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission must be purchased in the Visitor Center by 4 p.m. In June through August, the KCG is open Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission must be purchased in the Visitor Center by 3:30 p.m. Model trains run 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., and 3 to 4 p.m. Cost is $4 per person for everyone age 2 and above.
