Arboretum Friends
July 1, 2020 Arboretum Friends adopted a new recognition model that keeps both donors and volunteers connected to the gardens and programs, and advance The Arboretum.
The Arboretum is committed to nurturing relationships with all donors, visitors, friends and volunteers. Since 1992, Friends of The Arboretum has been a 100 percent dues-based membership organization, but in 2020, we turned over a new leaf.
The new model recognizes ALL donors and volunteers who generously give their time, talent and treasure to any part of The Arboretum. We will show our appreciation by offering levels of recognition to all volunteers and donors. If you opt to invest in The Arboretum financially, you will be free to choose which Arboretum fund your generosity will support. Likewise, if you opt to invest your time by volunteering, you can volunteer in any area which ignites your passion.
Why the change?
There are many reasons The Arboretum changed its recognition model, but here are a few:
- To keep YOU more connected to ALL areas of The Arboretum
- To show our appreciation to ALL who invest in The Arboretum
- To offer YOU the freedom of choice to direct gifts to any Arboretum Fund

If you choose to make an investment in The Arboretum of $50 or more or 15 or more volunteer hours cumulatively each year you will receive a slate of enhanced perks and exclusives!
The best perk of all? Knowing your investment will help The Arboretum grow and have a meaningful impact on all areas of The Arboretum. If you feel passionate about the Walk Across Kentucky, then you can help us grow our native plant collection. If your heart is drawn to the Kentucky Children’s Garden, there are many opportunities to plant a seed. Want to invest in the Dorotha Smith Oatts Visitors Center expansion and renovation?
